Alon Aboutboul (London Has Fallen) and Amin Joseph (Baywatch) have booked series regular roles on FX’s Snowfall, John Singleton’s 1980s cocaine-epidemic drama pilot. Co-created and executive produced by the Boyz N The Hood director Singleton and Erick Amadio, and directed by El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the pilot has been undergoing a revamp. Aboutboul will play Avi Drexler, an unpredictable cocaine dealer operating in the San Fernando Valley. Joseph will portray Franklin’s uncle, Jerome Saint, a prison hardened hustler and low key weed dealer. Aboutboul’s recent credits include Focus Features’ London has Fallen, alongside Gerard Butler, and the Adrien Brody drama Septembers of Shiraz. He recently wrapped the Brad Anderson political action thriller High Wire Act, opposite Jon Hamm and Rosamund Pike. Aboutboul is repped by Abrams Artists Agency and managed by Teitelbaum Artists Group. Joseph just wrapped the Baywatch movie alongside Priyanka Chopra. He’s repped by Luber Roklin, Gersh, and Jackoway Tyerman. Original story appeared on Deadline.
Michael Doneger has been set to write, executive produce and star in The Escort, an MTV drama pilot based on the 2015 feature Doneger co-wrote and starred in alongside Lyndsey Fonseca. Blake Goza and Mark DiCristofaro, who produced the film, will also serve as executive producers on the TV project. The film, directed by Will Slocombe, centered on a sex-obsessed writer (Doneger) in need of a big story to land an editorial gig. After retaining the help of a beautiful, Stanford-schooled hooker (Fonseca), the two form a symbiotic relationship as he tags along on her tricks to research his article, while she covertly uses him as a quasi-bodyguard against her not-so-dear Johns. Soon their business deal becomes a friendship that evolves even further. The Orchard released the pic in North America last year just before the comedy world-premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival in the Muse section. Doneger previously wrote, starred and directed the indie This Thing With Sarah. He is repped by APA, Underground and Ginsburg Daniels.
